Television Actor Vikas Sethi Passes Away at 48 Due to Cardiac Arrest
Television actor Vikas Sethi, known for his memorable roles in hit shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, and Kasautii Zindagi Kay, tragically passed away in Nashik on the night of September 8th. He was 48 years old and suffered a cardiac arrest while asleep, according to reports from his family.
Sethi and his wife, Jhanvi, were in Nashik to attend a family function when the actor began feeling unwell, experiencing symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. Despite his discomfort, he refused to visit the hospital, opting instead for home care. “We called a doctor to our house, but the next morning, when I went to wake him, he had already passed,” said Jhanvi. Doctors confirmed that he died in his sleep due to cardiac arrest. His mortal remains have been sent for a post-mortem to Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital.
This incident has once again drawn attention to the rising cases of cardiac arrest among younger people. Sethi’s death follows the recent cardiac-related health scares of other actors like Shreyas Talpade and the sudden demise of Sidharth Shukla in 2021.
Experts highlight that cardiac arrest can be triggered by a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors, even in younger individuals. Conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and congenital heart diseases, along with lifestyle risks such as poor diet, stress, and sedentary habits, are increasing contributors to heart-related fatalities.
Sethi is survived by his wife and twin sons. His last rites will take place in Mumbai on Monday. The family has not yet released an official statement.
